Lead-free technology

With the enforcement date July 1, 2006, in the states of the European Union there has been introduced a system of new regulations targeted at the Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS). The directive bans or severely restricts the use of certain substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers and many others in the manufacture and assembly of electronic products to be marketed in the EU.

The movement for the complete prohibition of lead in electronic equipment is now in full swing in all industrially developed countries. The directive turned out a good motivator for manufacturers for changing over to lead-free processes. "TRANSISTOR" branch has also been in that mainstream and is undertaking on switching to completely green lead-free technologies. As materials for lead finish of electronic components, the company currently applies Sn-Bi.
